- Name:
Corrine Giordani
- What is your day job, and do you have other hobbies?:
I work as an Admin. Asst. for Brown University in the Master of Public Health Program. My other hobbies are yoga, martial arts, soccer, and I am a bit of geek. I love sci-fi tv and books
- When did you start obstacle course racing? Tell us about your first race.:
I learned about obstacle course racing on Facebook . It seemed like a good challenge for me. My first race was the 2011 Ruckus Boston. I loved it and quickly signed up for more races.
- What was your biggest accomplishment at an obstacle course race? What made it your biggest accomplishment (overcame a fear, injury, disability etc?):
It’s hard to pick just one. Getting 3rd place at the Polar Bear Challenge, finishing the VT Beast ,and qualifying for the Champions Heat in the Fall Ruckus are the things I am most proud of. Overall I feel like I am getting better at OCR racing. It has really boosted my confidence level. I hope to keep challenging myself with tougher and longer races.
- What attracts you to obstacle course races? Why do you keep coming back?:
What attracts me to obstacle course racing is fun! Running is cool but running up a mountain through mud, barbed wire, and fire is better. I like the challenge and sometimes the element of fear, its the adrenaline rush. Obstacles can seem scary but when you get through them you feel great. Also it’s cool how you get a chance to do stuff you would not normally get to do.
- What are your training and/or diet routines? Do you have other athletic pursuits?:
I am still working on finding a good diet routine. Only recently have I got into cooking and I really like the healthy recipes that get posted on the Spahten blog each week.
For training I try to keep things balanced each week. I use yoga to balance out the days I lift a lot of heavy stuff or go for long runs. Yoga has really helped me recover quicker from injuries.
- Were you always athletic? If not, what athletic changes have you made to keep up the obstacle course race lifestyle?:
I have always been an athlete. I have played soccer and done martial arts since I was a kid. Obstacle course racing has been a nice new challenge.
- Who, alive or dead, would you invite to run an obstacle course race with you?:
Dose it have to be a real person? 🙂 If not ,The Doctor from Doctor Who. He can run really well and would be pretty good at the obstacles I think.
- What are your goals? Next race, next season … what’s in your future?:
This year I really hope to qualify for the Ultra Beast and next year …maybe…possibly… a Death Race.
I can SO see you being a Death Racer! You're a beast. A really sweet beast<3.
Pure awesomeness. Hmmm who would I like to run with alive or dead? Corrine..
