Review: Kahtoola Nanospikes

kahtoola spikes2Thanks to the fabulous Jess Wholen for this great review.

The feel of IceBugs with carbide tips, with the versatility of making literally any pair of footwear have carbide tips!

I have held out on getting anything along the lines of YakTrax for quite a while, but this winter I finally had enough and found myself needing something to keep traction while I was simply walking the dog around the ice skating rink I like to call my neighborhood.  I wanted something that I knew would bite into the ice, and be comfortable, and I found this with the Nanospikes.

They attach similarly to YakTrax, save for the fact that there is no strap to tighten across the top of your shoe.  Once on, they aren’t going anywhere, and I put them on a pair of old Nike Frees with no issue at all.

kahtoola spikesI primarily used them for walking, but did trot around on a sheet of ice with out a second thought.  Footing is completely secure.

Pros:
Great for running and walking
Bite into ice and crunchy snow with ease
Easy to use

Cons:
Tough to take off  (easy enough to leave on a pair of shoes, if repeated use is the goal)
Tips bite into wood floors

Rating: 5 star (amazing)
