2013 started out RIGHT!

Happy 2013, Spahtens! They said that the thing you spend the first day of your year doing is the thing you’ll do all year.

I hope so 🙂

Today a large group of Spahtens met up on Salisbury beach for a 5k or 10k road race, and followed it up with a dip in the ocean. We had a blast. The ocean was lovely, the sand was fine, and the road race was fast. Some of those statements are nearly true, as well.

I’ll happily spend the rest of 2013 with these fine folks!

New Years Day – the Spahtens get chillay!

What are those crazy, whack-job Spahtens up to next? (wait, I’m included? ..)

If you said “drink eggnog, stay warm by the fireplace and quietly play the Christmas classics on an old record player while the snow falls outside” – well, you’d be a little off the mark.

Instead, we’ve decided to run a 5k road race (with a 10k option) on New Years day – the Hangover Classic in Salisbury, MA

You’ll be thrilled to know that this isn’t just a road race either – but at the end of the event, there is a semi-official dip in the Atlantic! Clearly, if you call yourself a Spahten, this bit is mandatory. Doing it in your birthday suit is optional though. Unless your name starts with “J”, and rhymes with “James”. Ladies, you’re welcome.

Details on where we will meet, and which distances we’ll be running can be found on the Facebook group closer to the date.
